Earthquake Network serves as the most extensive application dedicated to earthquakes, functioning as a unique early warning system for numerous countries around the globe, capable of notifying you before the seismic waves strike. For further insights into the research endeavor, visit sismo.app.
Key features include:
- Alerts for imminent earthquakes
- User-generated reports on experienced earthquakes
- Seismic data from both national and global networks, tracking events from a magnitude of 0.0
- Earthquake alerts through voice synthesis (available in the PRO version)
The Earthquake Network research initiative is focused on creating a smartphone-based earthquake early warning mechanism that can identify seismic activities as they occur and alert the community beforehand. Each smartphone is equipped with an accelerometer that enables it to sense earthquakes. Once an earthquake is detected, individuals with the application receive immediate notifications. Given that the speed of earthquake waves ranges between 5 to 10 km/s, we can effectively warn those who have not yet experienced the powerful waves.

Keep in mind that the earthquake information provided by national and international seismic networks is typically released with a delay, which can vary from a few minutes to several hours based on the specific network in use.
